Wixárika Copal in Husk

Wixárika or Huichol copal, directly from the Indigenous Wixárika people of Mexico and the United States. Copal is the tree resin collected and burned for ceremonies and cleansing. We get this directly from the wixarika community that is still hand collecting copal deep in the mountains of Mexico, we’ve been told in recent years as natural spaces disappear they have to hike farther and farther each year into the mountains to collect this sacred offering. The copal is mixed with small pieces of bark, then heated and filtered the warm mix of copal is then poured directly into the corn leaves and tied up for drying and carrying.

"My intention with every instrument I make is for it to open the heart of its user, to help them transform on a very deep level. I'm honored to help people explore themselves through these sacred instruments."
